Sanctuary Days - What to Expect

A Sanctuary Day is a full-day experience, running from 10.30am–4.30pm, created to give you time to slow down, step away from everyday demands and reconnect with yourself.

The whole day is held through a psychotherapy-informed, somatic and nervous-system-aware approach. There is structure, but also spaciousness and choice. You will be invited to notice what you need rather than feeling that you have to participate in everything in a particular way.

Our Seven R’s — Rest, Regulate, Release, Receive, Reconnect, Restore and Radiate — sit quietly underneath the day, rather than being a programme you have to work through.

Come as You Are

There is nothing you need to prepare and no particular way you need to feel when you arrive.

Sanctuary is not about fixing yourself, becoming somebody different or achieving a particular outcome. It is an opportunity to step out of the noise, roles and expectations of everyday life and spend a day listening more closely to yourself.

You are encouraged throughout to follow your own pace and make choices that feel supportive for you.

10.30am — Arriving & Settling

We begin gently.

There will be time to arrive, have tea or coffee, find your place and begin to settle into the space without rushing straight into activity.

We then come together for a welcome and a gentle meditation or grounding practice, helping you shift attention away from the outside world and towards the body, breath and present moment.

This opening creates the foundation for the rest of the day — a sense that, for the next few hours, there is nowhere else you need to be.

Morning Sanctuary — What Do You Need?

The morning offers a changing collection of therapeutic, reflective and creative invitations designed around one simple question:

What do you need today?

Rather than everybody being expected to complete the same exercise, there will be opportunities to follow what you feel drawn towards.

This may include working with vibrational essences, exploring the Himalayan singing bowls, writing or poetry, reflective cards, letter writing, collage, drawing or creating with natural materials.

At other Sanctuary Days the invitations may be different.

Some people may want to create. Some may want to write or reflect. Others may simply need to sit quietly for a while.

These practices offer different ways of exploring themes such as what you may be ready to lay down, what you would like to receive, how far you have travelled, what matters to you now, and what it might mean to come home to yourself.

1.00pm — Lunch, Connection & Space

Lunch is deliberately spacious too.

We provide vegetarian soups, breads, snacks and refreshments, with time to eat slowly and allow the morning to settle.

You might choose to join our chatter table and connect with other people, find somewhere quieter to decompress, spend some time on your own or take yourself outside for a walk.

There is no expectation to socialise simply because it is lunchtime. This pause is another opportunity to notice what would feel restorative for you.

2.00pm — Therapeutic Sound Healing

In the afternoon we move into our Therapeutic Sound Healing experience.

Emma guides gentle psychotherapy-informed somatic and grounding practices, allowing awareness to return to the body and helping create the conditions for deeper rest.

Elizabeth then leads an extended Himalayan singing-bowl sound journey using layers of tone, resonance and vibration.

By this stage of the day, you have already had time to slow down, reflect and reconnect. The sound experience offers a largely non-verbal space for what has emerged during the day to settle and integrate. There is nothing you need to make happen. You are simply invited to rest, receive and experience the sound in your own way.

4.00pm — Closing & Integration

After the sound journey, we allow time to return slowly.

Rather than finishing abruptly, we come back together for a simple closing ritual — time to notice how you feel, reflect on the day and gently reconnect with the world around you.

There may be space for gratitude, quiet reflection or setting an intention for what you would like to carry with you beyond the Sanctuary.

There is never an expectation to share anything personal.

4.30pm — Returning to Everyday Life

The intention is not that you leave as a different person.

It is that you leave having had a few precious hours away from the constant doing — perhaps feeling a little more rested, spacious, grounded or connected to yourself.

Sanctuary of Authenticity is an invitation to come as you are, and to come home to yourself.

Comfort during your day.

Everything you need to settle comfortably is provided.

Each place is prepared with a yoga mat, additional cushioning, a blanket and a weighted eye mask, allowing you to rest comfortably throughout the sound journey.

If you know that you need a little more physical support or have a favourite cushion, blanket or other comfort item, you are very welcome to bring this with you.

Please wear comfortable clothing and bring some water. Please bring a journal and any additional items that feel good for you.
